HOW TO ACCESS THE SERVER
You will need to access the server if you want to put pictures into the photo albums or place files for
download on the FTP site. People who have accounts on the server can also access their private data area
as well.
- Before starting, make sure that your networking parameters (especially the workgroup) are set properly.
The Network Parameter Howto
details the settings.
- To access the server, double-click the Network Neighborhood icon on the desktop.
- You should see the computers on the Summit Camp network. Two computers will be always be there, the
Guest PC and the Server. You might also see other computers that are on the network at the time. If
you do not see any computers, double-click on Entire Network to start a search.
- Double-click on Server to access the folders on the server. You should see the Common and FTP folders
in addition to the network printers.
- If you have an account on the server, you will also see a folder with the name of the account. This folder
is private and only you can access the contents. The other folders are open to everybody on the network.
To access this account folder, you need to be logged into Windows under the same account name. You can
do this by going to the Start menu and choosing Log off. A dialog box will then appear giving you
the opportunity to login as a different user.
You now have access to the server and can continue to the FTP
and
photo album
guides.
